My little trooper! I'm SO proud =)

Today our B12 arrived and it was time to begin this next round of injections for the remainder of the year. Arianna chose her own band aids (Dora and Littlest Pet Shop) and her first injection went very well!! No complaints or tears and she likes her Dora band aid so much i can't take it off yet. :)

supplements, enzymes and probiotics are going just fine and arianna is not showing signs of adverse side effects after this first week which is awesome! There is a start of some yeast die off which effects autistic children differently but usually being hyperactive on and off is typical. If the B12 is similar to the last time 3 years ago, Arianna's speech should improve bit by bit and start in just the first week seeing these little steps. It's not a quick fix by any means but hope to see improvements along the way over the months.

Terry our NAET allergy therapist is going to start treating Arianna next week for the vaccines she was given. I pray that we will see improvements from that as well.
The summer months are getting booked quick with various meetings, therapy sessions, activities to help with socialization, speech and communication as well as fine motor skills.

Today was the IEP meeting at school reviewing goals for the remainder of this year and for the upcoming first grade. To go back and review where Arianna started last fall and see how much she has learned and improved gives me HOPE! One of the people present at the meeting said to me at EACH birthday, remind yourself about the prior year and how you were feeling about your child and concerns you had. When you see the differences in that year you can look back and say WOW! She is doing GREAT! So....here are some memories I have of Arianna's birthdays and my concerns at those times versus the next and so on:

First Birthday 2005 Not much memory of that year due to the car accident I had BUT, I do know that my little girl was doing well and had progressed normally. It wasn't until AFTER, around 15 months old and after a mess of cocktailed vaccines followed by high fever and getting sick that she started to spiral into a vegetative state of autism

Second Birthday 2006 Arianna was in full blown autism - no response to people, no eye contact, no emotion, no sense of pain, just starting to walk but cried allot, didn't care about other kids/no socialization, did not want to be touched much or cuddle stimming, knee walking, spinning objects

Third Birthday 2007 treatments started for Arianna in fall of 2006. magnetic mattress pad, supplements, vitamins, minerals, chelation, B12 shots and numerous other trial and errors....Arianna started being verbal and talking/babbling again at age 3. she was also trying to interact with children on some level and was wanting to be cuddly again with eye contact but still limited.

Fourth Birthday 2008 more treatments adding chiropractic care for the year, continued use of a magnetic BED not just mattress pad, enzymes and similar vitamins/minerals, occasional chelation and ending B 12 shots....Arianna was enrolled in Early On in Oakland county in Rochester Schools autism spectrum specialized class preschool. Arianna can communicate her basic needs, use memorized phrases and responses, started to color, socializing more with children on her own level, happy, loving, occasional tantrums and outbursts and coming and going symptoms, new fears/obsessions she also had sleep disturbances and would wake up in the night which was new. Arianna also started attending daycare instead of being home with a nanny - this was a hope of her being able to learn social skills being around other kids her age range.

Fifth Birthday 2009 most treatments had stopped at this time due to financial difficulties. improvements seemed to stall but she slowly added on new learning, new activities but social skills, personal help skills and communication stayed about the same. toe walking came back, emotional/behavioral troubles as well. kindergarten started off rough and a long way to go with learning, writing, basic things we all take for granted that typical children do at this age.

Sixth Birthday 2010 Arianna is growing very well, very tall and talking ALLOT! her social skills are improving quite a bit - she wants to play with other kids and does but lacks the ability to verbalize or initiate conversation which limits her developing relationships/friendships. She is happy, healthy and learning more and more each month. She can write her name, can read by memory/sight word recognition, likes to color, pretend plays (HUGE!) can write numbers/letters, knows shapes, can count by 1's, 5's and 10's up to 100.
with the introduction of all the treatments mentioned in the beginning she is improving more each week now.

So...as i look back through these past 6 years, each year had it's struggles and difficulties but to see how far she has come it gives me the continued HOPE that we WILL beat Autism! Will we ever see a cure? maybe not, but Arianna has a darn good shot at a REAL future filled with happiness, love, independent skills....LIFE!

God Bless and have a great weekend!
